Neglect at Talikote Hospital: PM CARES Equipment Abandoned Amid Leaks and Flooding
By Mohammed Hussain | Bangalore, Karnataka
The Talikote Government Hospital in Karnataka is drawing sharp criticism after reports surfaced about appalling conditions within the facility. A leaking roof, waterlogged floors, and abandoned PM CARES-funded medical equipment paint a grim picture of healthcare infrastructure in the region.
Water Dripping on Beds, Floors Flooded
According to eyewitnesses, water was seen dripping directly onto patient beds from the ceiling, turning hospital wards into hazard zones. Entire sections of the floor were reportedly submerged in water, raising serious concerns about hygiene, patient safety, and the risk of infections.
“This is a government hospital, not a disaster zone. How can patients recover in such conditions?” said a local resident Saddam Talikote who visited the facility.
PM CARES Equipment Left Unused
Adding to the concerns, critical medical equipment provided under the PM CARES fund reportedly remains unused or poorly maintained. Despite the significant investment made through the central initiative, the equipment appears to be gathering dust — a clear sign of neglect or mismanagement.
No Medical Staff in Sight
In another alarming revelation, witnesses reported that apart from an ambulance stationed outside, there were no doctors or nurses available at the time of the visit. Patients and their families were left unattended, highlighting a potential breakdown in essential medical services.
Public Outcry and Call for Accountability
Citizens and activists are calling on the Karnataka Health Department and the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to immediately investigate the matter.
“What’s the use of schemes like PM CARES if the ground reality is this? There needs to be accountability,” said Mallikarjun Rathod a local resident.
The incident raises broader questions about the implementation of healthcare initiatives and the urgent need for regular inspections and maintenance in public health facilities.
Officials Silent So Far
As of now, no official statement has been issued by the district health officer or hospital administration regarding the situation at Talikote Hospital.
Efforts to reach senior health officials for comment remain unanswered.
