The Youth Congress unit of Hatti Gold Mines town, located in Lingsugur taluk of Raichur district, has launched an aggressive door-to-door signature campaign titled “Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod” (Vote Thieves, Vacate the Seat), aimed at exposing and protesting alleged voter list manipulation and electoral malpractice.

The campaign, spearheaded by Youth Congress President of Hatti Division, Mr. Lal Peer, is rapidly gaining momentum across the region.

Backed by a team of Congress workers and youth volunteers, the team is actively engaging with residents, collecting signatures, and raising public awareness about the importance of safeguarding democratic processes.

Speaking to the media, Lal Peer alleged that the ruling BJP is misusing the Election Commission to manipulate voter lists in its favour.

The BJP is trying to hijack democracy by tampering with voter lists. If people remain unaware, our democratic rights will be in danger,” he said.

He added that the initiative is inspired by Rahul Gandhi’s call to ensure electoral transparency and protect democratic institutions.

“Rahul Gandhi stands for democracy and constitutional rights, and we are bringing that same mission to the people in our towns and villages.” he said.

The Youth Congress team, supported by local Congress workers and youth volunteers, actively engages with residents to collect signatures and raise awareness about the need for clean and fair elections. Many locals have reportedly complained about missing names, duplicate entries, and selective deletions in the updated voter rolls.

Local leaders, including Asif, Mallanna, Muhammad Sadiq, and Shamsuddin, are also actively mobilising public support.

According to organisers, the collected signatures will be submitted to the State Election Commission, demanding an impartial review of the voter lists and immediate corrective action.

Youth Congress leaders plan to expand the campaign to other parts of Raichur district in the coming weeks.
